Mrs. Charlene Paus

 Athletic Director; Teacher, Kindergarten

I grew up in Boardman, Ohio and moved to Elkhart, Indiana halfway though high school. I graduated from Purdue University in 1992 where I met my husband Tim. We were married in 1993 and shortly after moved to Ord, Nebraska where I taught grades K-8 with another teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. After only a year there, Tim moved home to farm with his dad. I began subbing in various local school districts until we started a family. After Kelby and Keely were in school I went back to subbing for a year then St. John’s called me to teach in 2002. We added a 3rd child, Keira, in 2008. I completed my WELS Synod certification through Martin Luther College in 2010. Kelby is a Cyclone at Iowa State University studying Agricultural Engineering. Keely is a Hawkeye at the University of Iowa and is studying to be a physical therapist. So we are a house divided!!

My call has changed over the years. I taught 2nd grade and keyboarding (grades 3-8) for 14 years. In 2016 I switched to Kindergarten and LOVE my little ones! I am excited about spending my days with some of the youngest people in the building!

I truly love spending time with my family and friends. My family enjoys canoeing/kayaking and traveling when we are not busy on the farm. Even though I started out in college to be an engineer, I think I was meant to be a teacher all of my life. I remember as soon as school let out as a kid I was holding class in my backyard.
